Really Resting & River Cruising . . .

“he said to them, “This is what the Lord has commanded: ‘Tomorrow is a day of solemn rest, a holy Sabbath to the Lord; bake what you will bake and boil what you will boil, and all that is left over lay aside to be kept till the morning.’” Exodus 16:23

For the last week I have been resting, both solemnly and joyfully! I have neither baked nor cooked anything, yet have consumed and enjoyed numerous savory and sweet treats. Above is a picture of a Bavarian Torte that I pointed at, ordered and ate, though I have no idea what it is called. The mystery confection was delightful and gave me the idea to challenge you to try a new recipe for the holiday season. Find something in a cookbook or magazine or online that looks delicious and just give it a try. Then send me a picture! and the recipe, if it is a good one.

Hopefully you will have time to rest as well as try a new recipe. Take it from me, making the time to rest honors God, restores your soul, and supplies energy for the work that is ahead.
